Must Have RV Accessories

So you’ve gotten your first RV, now what? There may be some items you realize you need along the way but here are a few items you should definitely get ahold of before your first adventure:

Leveling Blocks

Even if your rig is equipped with an automatic leveling system you may need a block or two on occasion. RV utility blocks can also be used to secure tires or to shore up a tire in an area with soft ground.

Generator

Generators can be useful for a range of situations, especially when at a primitive campsite. Having a generator allows you to use gas to provide you with temporary power. Whether you need to charge your batteries or provide lighting at night time, this is one thing you’ll definitely need. We’d recommend going with a quiet generator so it doesn’t ruin the outdoor experience.

Dump Hose

Dumping your tanks is never going to be a fun job but having the right equipment can make it a lot less nasty. You want to make sure your hose is long enough to reach ANY dump station but not so long that your waste does not move through the hose. Hoses with a clear view piece allows you to see that the waste is moving, don’t be alarmed, they are frosted so you won’t see all the details!

Walkie-Talkies

When traveling off the grid, no technology may seem great but on occasion communication can be necessary. Traveling with two-way walkie-talkies will allow you to keep in touch when traveling out of eye or earshot, communicate while parking and setting up and communicate in the event of an emergency.

Water Pressure Regulator

Having a water leak in your brand new RV will not be a fun experience, sadly some campgrounds have too high of water pressure which can lead to stress on your water system resulting in leaks. A water pressure regulator will allow you to regulate the water pressure so that your system is not stressed.

Water Tank Filler Valve

If you’d like to fill your water tank without it taking absolutely FOREVER, we recommend a water tank filler valve, this will ensure you do not experience bubble back. This can save you a lot of time and frustration when trying to fill your water tank.

Hoses

Notice, the “hose” is plural… You want to make sure you have AT LEAST 2 hoses for use on your RV. One of these hoses will be for your fresh water/to fill your water tank. The other hose will be used to assist in cleaning your dump tank and hose. You want to make sure your fresh water hose is lead free and that you get your hoses in different colors so there are no mix ups.
