RV Deodorizing Tips

Walex - Bio-Pak

When it comes to RVing, sewage is something most people seem to not want to talk about. But unless you want your RV to smell like a port-o-potty, we’d recommend deodorizing and taking steps to ensure everything smells nice. Although many RV Waste Digesters claim to include a deodorizer, we often find that they just don’t cut it. The primary function of these enzymes is to break down waste so that you don’t experience a clog, which is still extremely beneficial but doesn’t quite get rid of all the stench long-term. Here are some other tips for ensuring things are breaking down correctly and not causing any additional smells or problems:

  • Flush often while sitting on the toilet. Water is a black water holding tanks friend.
  • Always flush twice after using the RV Toilet, the more water the better.
  • After dumping the tanks, add about 1 gallon of water and the proper amount of chemicals to the black water holding tank through the toilet before actually using the toilet.

Downy biodegradable detergent

Now, in terms of deodorizing your RV, we recommend adding a few cups of Downy, which you can find for very cheap in most grocery stores. Downy is biodegradable and will not cause any damage to the seals. Best of all, the deodorizing will last for days, even weeks depending upon how much your restroom is being used AND who doesn’t love the smell of some fresh, clean laundry?
